The Iowa Suns mission is to teach, develop, and care for youth players while competing at the highest level for youth basketball. We offer the opportunity to learn the fundamental skills of basketball while instilling life lessons and values such as character, teamwork, discipline, respect, and sportsmanship. We believe in the whole person, navigating leadership skills, culture, and individual/team skill development.

SKILL
DEVELOPMENT
We want to prepare kids for their JH and HS careers. You won’t hear words like “elite” or “exposure” with us. We want kids to learn the requisite skills, challenge them, and then build a strong basketball IQ for future success.
TEAM FIRST
FAMILY ALWAYS
We are preparing kids to be good basketball players but more importantly to be part of something bigger than themselves. We will focus on skill development and then preach togetherness. Team first, family always.
3v3
sessions
Players will also get the 3 v 3 sessions included in their team fees. These sessions are fun, up-tempo, and provide opportunities to experiment and gain confidence.
club
competition
We will also compete at club level tournaments. Competition is necessary for kids to grow and is only part of the puzzle (but an important one). 7-9 tournaments (depending on age) over the spring and summer to challenge our players.
Player Evaluation Cards
As part of our program, players will receive a custom player evaluation card with things to work on and personal responses from his/her coach. We believe it is important to care for both the skills he/she exemplifies and the leadership qualities he/she is developing.
